Port and Polish Becomes Plastic Neutral

Posted by Emily Hayes on

Between our metal straws, reusable water bottles and mesh produce bags, sustainable swaps are something we have tried to incorporate into our everyday lives wherever possible. These small steps make us more conscious of the waste we can avoid creating, but what about when plastic waste is seemingly unavoidable?

Enter rePurpose Global, who is revolutionizing the plastic removal industry by calculating a company’s plastic footprint and offsetting that amount by subsidizing the ethical removal of plastic from oceans and landfills. Port and Polish is so excited to announce that we have partnered with rePurpose Global to become 100% certified plastic neutral! What does that mean? For us, a portion of the proceeds from every pill box sold will go directly toward funding the removal of plastic from landfills and oceans, allowing Port and Polish to completely offset our plastic footprint.

Not only that, but every sale supports the removal of low-value plastic by a formally-structured waste removal service in Taka Taka, Kenya. Waste pickers are protected and provided with fair wages by Taka Taka Solutions and rePurpose Global will provide 150 workers and family members with additional income through Port and Polish’s partnership. The low-value plastic recovered will be reused and Port and Polish will continue to work with rePurpose Global to reduce the amount of plastic created and used.

We’re thrilled about our partnership with rePurpose Global, and we hope you are, too! Want to learn more? Check out the link below to see exactly how we’re working hard to offset plastic waste for a more sustainable and equitable future for everyone.
